I’m married and have lived in Torbay, Devon since 1973. I’m a non-smoker with a full clean car & motorcycle licence and no criminal convictions. Since 1989 I’ve been working in the graphic design, advertising and publishing industry, however between 2010-12 I also worked in Torbay as a taxi driver on weekend evenings and applied to join the Special Constabulary. Whenever I can, I like to get outdoors and enjoy road and trail running. I’ve previously completed a full marathon and next year I hope to take part in my first ultramarathon. I previously served with the Royal Marines Reserve for four years and now that I’m older I stay fit with running and calisthetic strength-building exercises. I think logically and can adapt to solve problems with practical and appropriate solutions. Set me a task and I will carry it out to the best of my ability using the resources that are available. I learn quickly and can follow instructions verbatim or use my own initiative if a situation requires it. I can work in a customer-facing role and work equally well independently. Over the years I’ve handled cash, deadlines, budgets and some challenging situations: I once worked a continous 40 hour shift to meet a publishing deadline.

MY WORK EXPERIENCE

Since I left school in 1983 I’ve been a quality controller, a soldier, an electronics technician, a graphic designer, a builder, a hotel night porter, a night taxi driver and a farm labourer. I’m in good health and hold a full clean car and motorcycle driving licence and a RYA L2 Powerboat licence.

MY PERSONALITY

According to the Meyers Briggs personality test my type is ISTP. Here’s how that defines me…

I’m an observant artisan with an understanding of mechanics and an interest in troubleshooting. I approach my environments with a flexible logic, looking for practical solutions to the problems at hand. I am independent and adaptable and typically interact with the world around them in a self-directed, spontaneous manner.

I’m attentive to details and responsive to the demands of the world around me. Because of my astute sense of my environment, I’m good at moving quickly and responding to emergencies. I’m reserved, but not shy: I enjoy taking action and approach the world with a keen appreciation for the physical and sensory experiences it has to offer. I’m often capable of humorously insightful observations about the world around me.”
